I'd like to propose a Java guidelines change. The new draft is at 1 and diff is at 2. There is only one simple change:
The change was discussed on java-devel ML last week 3 and nobody seemed to be opposed.

I never understood why that section was in there either; I just attributed it to some deep Java knowledge I didn't have.
I'm certainly happy to get rid of it, so +1.
