Check the trusted domain objects and the IPA domain object if alternative domain suffixes are defined. In this case the IPA server can handle enterprise principals and then can be enabled on the client.
If no alternative domain suffixes are defined enterprise principals are not needed because all realm should be resolvable via DNS in this case.
