#2856 [RFE] Allow users to authenticate with alternative names
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by adelton.

Users sometimes prefer to use emails or other alises when they authenticate. In some environments it is a requirement to be able to authenticate with an email address.

This is an SSSD counterpart to https://fedorahosted.org/freeipa/ticket/5413.

This request is coupled to https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/ticket/2589 because after using email address or alias for authentication, we still want to be able to pass back some canonical identifier to the application.

We'll decide about downstream clone later.

milestone: NEEDS_TRIAGE => SSSD 1.14 alpha

The 1.14 Alpha release should be small and targeted at stabilizing the refactoring and important fixes, therefore I'm demoting this ticket to the Beta milestone.

milestone: SSSD 1.14 alpha => SSSD 1.14 beta

There was a recent requirement for the e-mail field, but I think it's more realistic to fix this post-beta..

milestone: SSSD 1.14 beta => SSSD 1.14.0

This didn't make the .0 release, moving to .1

milestone: SSSD 1.14.0 => SSSD 1.14.1
