Would be pretty cool if sssd would send the Session Tracking Control along with its LDAP bind requests when checking user's passwords (e.g. sudo).
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-wahl-ldap-session
LDAP servers which support this control (like OpenLDAP) can then log e.g. the SSH client's IP address along with received bind requests.
Some LDAP requests of other use-cases could be considered for this control as well (password changes, sudoers search).

summary: Session Tracking Control => [RFE] Session Tracking Control
milestone: NEEDS_TRIAGE => SSSD 1.14 beta rhbz: => todo
To add an important use-case for this: If a machine got hacked and the login logs are manipulated you would still see in the LDAP server's log from IP address a password check was initiated.

I'm sorry, but the 1.14 milestone is getting too big, so I'm demoting this ticket to 1.15. We will evaluate it again when we scope 1.15, in the meantime, patches are welcome.
milestone: SSSD 1.14 beta => SSSD 1.15 beta
