Simo brought this up during an IRC discussion. GID change is a sufficiently rare operation that, perhaps based on an option value, we could only check the group memberships frfom the memberof attribute values and if all the groups are cached, just reuse the GIDs from the cache. This would save at least one roundtrip to LDAP to check the GID.
