Based on the current roadmap of realmd it is important to provide replacement for winbind for the file server case sooner rather than later. This would require SSSD to implement local interfaces that SMBD uses out of winbind. The intent is to be able to completely get rid of winbind in file server cases. This would also help in configuring Samba FS with IPA or AD via realmd.
