createrepo takes an option called --unique-md-filenames which will make the MD "HTTP cache friendly", this has been "supported" on the yum client since Fedora 9 GA ... however it'd be good to have a testing period in rawhide/Fedora-10 only.
So if you could add that option to the createrepo instances for rawhide and later that'd be great.
I've got a test compose going with this now. If OK, I'll push to mash, and ask Bill to build.
This has been done, unique md names are used in rawhide. As to make the change for update repos, I'll leave that discussion for another day.
