#6260 Retire all packages with broken deps before the F23 release
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by kalev.

As per https://fedorapeople.org/groups/schedule/f-23/f-23-releng-tasks.html packages with broken dependencies should get blocked before the F23 final freeze (Tue 2015-10-13). We have to figure out who's going to send out notices to package maintainers and who's going to do the blocking.

kalev, could you send the notifications? I hope I will be able to do the blocking.

Sure, works for me. I'll send the notifications.

I retired perl-Data-Alias for F-23 on Friday 25th September but it doesn't appear to be blocked - I'm still getting broken deps reports for it.

Looks like you need to retire on rawhide too https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/package/perl-Data-Alias/

OK, so the last stable push was last night and it's time to wrap this up and do the package retirement. For reference, these are the notifications that were sent to package maintainers:

Here's the final list of packages that have unfixed broken dependencies and would need to be retired, in both f23 and rawhide:
{{{
apache-scout
CableSwig
hbase
netbeans-platform
nodejs-grunt-contrib-copy
oat
oozie
openstack-swift
pure
pyjigdo
python-fiat
spark
vfrnav
}}}

The following packages have runtime dependencies on the packages above and would need to be retired as well:
{{{
openstack-swift-plugin-swift3
pig
pure-glpk
}}}

python-fiat was picked up by fab.

I am glad to hear that, but it still has a broken dependency, in both F23 and rawhide :)

{{{
[python-fiat]
python-fiat-1.5.0-2.fc23.noarch requires ScientificPython
}}}

Do you know if anyone is working on fixing the broken dep? If so, I am sure the retirement can wait for a few days, but it needs (1) builds fixing it, for both f23 and rawhide, (2) f23 update submitted to bodhi, (3) Freeze Exception from QA, (4) karma in bodhi, (5) stable push with the update

Please do not drop openstack-swift* in F23 (rawhide is ok)
The broken dep is due to liberasurecode unusually long review.

I doubt that python-fiat can be fixed as ScientificPython does not work with our numpy and [https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1239351#c6 was retired] because of that.

Missing deps for openstack-swift got approved: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1212148

Can you propose it as a freeze exception, please? We'd have to pull it in through the freeze to fix the broken deps in stable.

I am retiring the following packages:
{{{
CableSwig
apache-scout
hbase
netbeans-platform
nodejs-grunt-contrib-copy
oat
oozie
pure
spark
pyjigdo
vfrnav
pig
pure-glpk
}}}

vfrnav is unretired, thank you.
