#6147 Please add python3-pkgversion-macros to minimal buildroot for Fedora and EPEL7
Closed: Invalid None Opened 8 years ago by mstuchli.

This request is based on guidelines for Python 3 in EPEL 7 [0].

guidelines have to be approved before we do anything. but I am highly inclined to say no, it will make the minimal buildroot bigger and slower to create. you will need to BuildRequires anything you need.

The guidelines have been approved by EPSCO [0], is there anyone else who should do the approval?

The reason why we need python3-pkgversion-macros in minimal buildroot, is that we plan to use macros from the package in BuildRequires. Those macros, however, do not get expanded, unless the package is in minimal buildroot already, just BuildRequiring it does not help. See the guildelines for more on this.

Or is there a way to achieve the same without adding the package to minimal buildroot?

Matt

FPC needs to approve the packaging guidelines and put them in the official packaging guidelines space, the best place for the macros would be epel-release and redhat-rpm-config
