I continue to receive the following messages even though according to the [https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb Fedora Package Database], all four of these packages have been retired for EPEL-5: {{{ pki-console has broken dependencies in the epel-5 tree: On ppc: pki-console-1.3.2-1.el5.noarch requires java >= 1:1.6.0 Please resolve this as soon as possible. }}}
{{{ pki-ra has broken dependencies in the epel-5 tree: On ppc: pki-ra-1.3.1-1.el5.noarch requires pki-silent Please resolve this as soon as possible. }}}
{{{ pki-tps has broken dependencies in the epel-5 tree: On ppc: pki-tps-1.3.1-1.el5.ppc requires pki-silent On x86_64: pki-tps-1.3.1-1.el5.i386 requires libssldap60.so pki-tps-1.3.1-1.el5.i386 requires libprldap60.so pki-tps-1.3.1-1.el5.i386 requires libldif60.so pki-tps-1.3.1-1.el5.i386 requires libldap60.so Please resolve this as soon as possible. }}}
{{{ tomcatjss has broken dependencies in the epel-5 tree: On ppc: tomcatjss-1.2.1-1.el5.noarch requires java >= 1:1.6.0 Please resolve this as soon as possible. }}}
Please remove these packages from whatever automated 'ppc' build is trying to utilize them.
Why were they retired? They lack a dead.package file describing the reason.
Replying to [comment:1 till]:
I do not know how long these packages have actually been retired, however, it should be noted that none of these packages have been touched in over four years:
The 'pki-console', 'pki-ra', and 'pki-tps' packages are part of a RHEL 5 layered product that has never been supported on the 'ppc' platform.
The 'tomcatjss' package is a low-level component that is utilized solely by this RHEL 5 layered product and therefore has also never been supported on the 'ppc' platform.
Further, there was a determination at one point in the distant past that EPEL packages would no longer be built for this specific RHEL 5 layered product. (I do not know if the 'dead.package' file that you refer to was even the method utilized at that time).
The dead.package file is already use for a long time. It is explained here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_remove_a_package_at_end_of_life
I added a dead.package file and blocked the packages in koji (this was not done for primary as well), they should be properly removed with the next push.
