Because the system libary glew was introduced on EL-5 as a system library, I wan't to build blender agains this library instread of using the glew library which is bundled with blender.
What is the exact package build n-v-r of glew you need tagged into the buildroot?

This package is tagged in now. Let us know when it's no longer needed.
This package is in stable now, no need for the override. Untagging the override and closing.
