#1860 Update F11 GA alsa-utils and alsa-lib packages
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by perex.

Please, update F11 GA packages to alsa-lib-1.0.20-1 and alsa-utils-1.0.20-3 .

The packages contains fixes for default mixer settings. The packages are quite stable - I do not expect any regressions.

this is confirmed by reporters to fix the following bugs:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=470633
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497557
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497937

and includes fixes for the following, whose reporters have not yet confirmed:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=495148
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497978
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=498145
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=498453
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=498612
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=499172
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=499831

None of these is marked as a blocker, as no single instance of this type of bug (bad default ALSA volume settings which cause PA-based volume controls not to work properly) is a blocker. However, the weight of combined fixes for all these is significant, and this cannot really usefully be shipped as a 0-day update, because when default volume settings are changed by an update, they are not applied unless the user runs a manual command 'alsactl init' due to how ALSA works.

I think that only alsa-lib package was updated. Please, update also alsa-utils to 1.0.20-3 (I've not seen e-mail notifications from koji for this package). Thanks.
