#1542 Please tag PackageKit-0_4_6-4_fc11 into f11-final
Closed: Fixed None Opened 15 years ago by rhughes.

Now we're shipping yum-presto by default (thanks for the heads up by the way...) people have found that Presto doesn't send the update information in the same format at native yum downloads did. This means that people don't get the downloading icon and the spinner when using the update viewer or watching the task in gpk-update-icon.

I've applied two trivial patches from master to fix this up, so that the update viewer shows the correct downloading icon (in the right place) when the deltarpm starts being downloaded.

This is all detailed in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=496445

Impact of not tagging this means that the update viewer will look like it's doing nothing for a while, and then magically updating without downloading anything. If not, I'll just issue a 0 day "important" update for PackageKit which isn't obviously ideal.

Thanks,

Richard

Richard, I'd like to hear your thoughts/opinions on stability and the riskiness of the changes involved here.

Well, it's a trivial patch that just adds the correct return type used by presto. I've tried to keep the patch small and not be invasive.

The patch is already in git master upstream, and there have been a few people testing it over the last few days. I don't think this poses any risks of regressions.

I realize the feature page says by default, but it isn't enabled as such in rawhide yet. Turning it on by default at this point would be aggressive IMHO.
