#1311 linkage: dead package, please block in Rawhide
Closed: Fixed None Opened 15 years ago by pgordon.

I have EOL'ed linkage in Fedora as per the PackageMaintainers/PackageEndOfLife guidelines on the wiki - since it is essentially dead upstream and fails with recent rb_libtorrent versions. Please block it from F11/rawhide and the F9/F10 updates.

Normally I would only remove it from the devel branch; but in this case I intend to bump rb_libtorrent and dependent packages in F9/F10 very soon, and that would break Linkage due to API/ABI changes. This is why I feel it best to have it blocked in its entirety.

Thanks very much.

It's easy enough to block from rawhide. That's not a problem.

Blocking it from F9 and F10 probably isn't going to happen. Since the package was included in the repositories at release time, it's in the Everything repos for each and we don't alter those.

I could be mistaken here, and if so someone else from rel-eng will yell at me.

Perhaps it is best to not do the API/ABI break in a stable release.

I've blocked it in dist-f11 for now.

Marking as fixed, since it's out of rawhide now. Thanks, Jesse & Josh.

Josh, I definitely understand the keeping it in the F9/F10 releases as-is. Thanks for explaining that to me. :)
