#555 Other ways to specify CLI password
Closed: Fixed None Opened 11 years ago by edewata.

Currently the CLI takes a -w <password> option to specify the password which is not secure because it will be logged in shell history. The password is used to login to the server or to access the certificate database.

There other ways to specify the password:

  1. Prompting for password. This is the simplest to use, but it may not work for automation.

  2. Using a password file. This file could also contain connection info so these parameters do not need to be repeated in every CLI invocations. User is responsible to remove it afterwards.
