We are just starting planning F12 Release Events: how this initiative can be interfaced with the marketing plan to promote F12.
To be clear: why don't add a quote (e.g. a line) on REs in press release? Is possible to have a banner in fp.org to help these event well spreaded along the community? Are there other ways to handle it?
I think a collaboration between Ambassadors and Marketing on this topic could help boost Fedora and its brand value.
RThank you for your availability
Francesco
We should do this for F13.
I'm taking this ticket with me over to FAD NA next week.
13:45 < rbergeron> #1 - We need to figure out a way to get the word from ambassadors to marketing that people are doing release events 13:45 < rbergeron> so that we can promote - via microblog, blog, whatever. 13:45 < rbergeron> #2 - If they need posters, signage, etc. - we can help coordinate those items with design 13:45 < NourishedCloud> Sure, I'll help out with that :) 13:45 < rbergeron> but we need to have them ready far prior to when release parties actually occur.
Follow up next week.

Right now Release Events are "owned" or better initiated and coordinated by FAmSCo right now Susmit and lfoppiano are in charge the Parties are maintained here - Reports included - Reports are also aggregated on the Planet in the most cases: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F13_release_events
and normaly we try to provide a small incentive to encourage our fellow Ambassdors to do a Party
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAmSCo_report_2010-05#General_accomplishments_or_decisions
In the past we have done Release Party contests, but we learned that this provides too many discouragement.
13:45 < rbergeron> #2 - If they need posters, signage, etc. - we can help coordinate those items with design
if Design has the Manpower to Release Artwork for every Release ok for me - very nice to have that.
In the past we learned to invest in really good high quality generic artwork to be used more than one time to safe costs.
13:45 < NourishedCloud> Sure, I'll help out with that :) 13:45 < rbergeron> but we need to have them ready far prior to when release parties actually occur.
lets get Feedback from the Release Event Owners for the F13 Events

I also saw about the generic posters, which are nice but I think it would be nice to have some variety in there :-) We can also work to provide other such items, posters were an example. this was just a old link to the initial post to have such generic designs - this posters never went public in this color ;)
Current generic designs are the 4f´s, they are cool and well used by the Ambassadors.
As said we welcome any new Design we can use to produce things - we learned that we have to be carefull with our Design-Ressources - so strong generic Artwork is better than none, or "not done" Artwork, because the Design Contributors have a lot of work and have to set priorities - we saw that, as example from the XFCE CD-Sleeve Design.
We also learned that - as example SWAG - has regional Requirements - things that work in Germany, might not work in Hungary and so on. That is why SWAG Production and Prototyping is historicaly done by the regional Ambassadors, just two examples [1],[2] - there are many more from every Region in the world.
What we need from my pov are good base-designs so we can create our Posters, T-Shirts, Bags .... SWAG
The best Marketing Instrument i know for Release Parties, are printed good-looking OnePage Release Flyers.
Marketing is welcome to brainstorm of new SWAG Ideas - like we had the Idea to have "Ballon Stess Balls" to the "Ballon Artwork" of Fedora 7.
