#104 Fedora Marketing Press Kit
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by rbergero.

This is the big Super-Ticket for the press kit.

We can decide some milestones, etc. for the press kit, if we'd like; also we can add some tickets in that are for each step of the press kit process.

From Henrik: I want to remind you guys and girls that Fedora13 is coming out soon and as far as I can see the progress at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F13_press_kit there seem to be not all modules finished or updated.
Can anybody take a look at it and maybe write "WIP, done, need help, need time, etc." to it that we all know where we stand?! Some of the more technical modules are already ready to go, but the more essential parts seem to be a bit orphaned. Espeacily some parts at "History" with less technical background need maybe a bit more love...

We need this before the RHT Summit in mid-June. I'm on it.

The press kit for the Summit is going to consist of the one-page release notes (double-sided, color) and 2 pages of condensed feature profiles (double-sided, b&w). I'm preparing those now and will upload when they're ready, which should be within a few hours.

inode0 has offered to take the pdfs when they're ready and take care of getting them printed and to the Summit.

First release ready, https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F13_press_kit#Red_Hat_Summit_2010. inode0 has been pinged re: printing, and Marketing has been pinged re: "how many do we print?" and "how do we make this better?" (http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/marketing/2010-June/012987.html)

Jef (schendje), a new Design Team member, has taken this on, with help from Daniel. The latest I know of (pdf-in-progress) is at http://mairin.wordpress.com/2010/06/03/fedora-design-bounty-f13-feature-profiles/#comment-5821 - will keep following up.

inode0, is there a date we absolutely need to get the final files to you by?

From pfrields: "I don't think we need more than 100 or so for the Summit itself. More ofthe people at the Summit are aware of and probably even informed about Fedora than at the average event. If there are extras, hough,
we can always ship them to another event if none of the content is Summit-specific, which I believe it's not."

Note that to get these to the Summit requires sufficient lead time for duplication. They're being lumped in with other things we need to print/duplicate and ship as well. John Rose (inode0) is handling that duplication. We decided to go with 200 copies of each page, and have them at the Fedora table for people to pick up in whatever combination they care about.

That's not really how they would eventually appear in a real press kit. In a sense we're testing the content to see if the information is of general interest to people (i.e., can the content be used elsewhere since it's modular?).

Is it going to be a major problem if we print what we have for the Summit and keep moving ahead with the design fixes for later iterations? My hope is that people at the Summit will walk away with everything we've printed -- the attendance is easily over 1,000 people -- and we can print new versions and use them for the more formal press kit as we finish the other pieces around the already-finished content.

Design work completed at https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/133, testing printing for first physical production run... I'll bring some to the Summit tomorrow to show (but not distribute) so that people can have a look.

Milestone F13d: Follow-up deleted
