My IRC nick is: Heather

Please briefly describe the interaction that caused you to file this
ticket:

conflict between me and fenrus02. First I asked question about gui
package manager. I expected to get fedora related answer even by
running rhel. One of users asked for --sysinfo and then fenrus02
muted me. I was trying to contact him to explain that I expect to
get fedora answer even by running rhel. He set flag to ignore me.
I get unmuted when explain situation to che_ (channel op). Then
I asked question about package-cleaner and yum command (in log) and
get banned on #fedora by fenrus02 because I'm still running rhel.

Please note other IRC nicks that are involved in this interaction:

che_ - un-muted me after first mute and helped with writing this
       complaint

Please describe what action or positive change could be adopted based on this feedback:

pick the rights on #fedora from fenrus02

Heather: is there shorter alternative for package-cleanup --quiet --leaves --exclude-bin | xargs yum remove -y ?
dan408: um
yes
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/14/html/Software_Management_Guide/ch07s03.html
fenrus02: Heather, ask in #RHEL .. asking here will break your system.
[R]: haha
dan408: hah
Heather: fenrus02 pff... I hate you
fenrus02: [R], sad but true. commands for fedora will break a rhel system. they dont work the same
Heather, that's nice. last warning.
[R]: Heather: that's not very nice
randomuser: Heather, i'm really curious now.. why *aren't* you using fedora?
dan408: OH DAMN
heather are you using fedora or rhel or centos?
Heather: randomuser I can answer in private, such speak could be offtopic
randomuser: lol
EvilBob: People that are willing to give advice in private messages should not be trusted, if they were trustworthy they would do so in the channel where peer review is possible. http://www.scrye.com/wordpress/nirik/2013/02/12/default-to-open-please/
dan408: man
randomuser gets all the chicks
[R]: EvilBob: maybe she just wants sexy tiem
JamesNZ: dan408: LOL :D
fenrus02: dan408, if it's a chick.
dan408: :/
Heather: dan408 link you provided actually longer
for the same action but is using the same tool
dan408: heather
answer the first question
cat /etc/redhat-release |fpaste
fpaste --sysinfo
fenrus02: dan408, [23:49:48] <Heather> EvilBob http://paste.fedoraproject.org/10994/98785013/
Heather: dan408 I used to answer it earlier
randomuser: dan408, we went through this with Heather shortly before you joined this evening
dan408: Heather: go to #rhel
you are asking in the WRONG channel
Heather: dan408 I am asking about FEDORA but I am running RHEL and my questions is NOT ANYHOW related to RHEL
enough?

after that I get banned

Thanks for your feedback!

I just get that che_ did not un-mute me

{{{
che_: Note: i did not unmute you. you were muted only for 15 minutes
}}}

(can't edit ticket to remove it)

So, my take on things:

a) First of all, there's a very valid set of reasons why #fedora folks don't want to try and help people using RHEL.
RHEL is based on a much older Fedora version usually, and behaviors of things or what was even default or shipped are very different than currently supported Fedoras. Advising someone based on Fedora information could actually cause harm to a RHEL box at worst case, or at the least just not work and provide confusion.

b) I didn't see any conflict between you and fenrus. He was simply trying to get you to go to a venue where you could get support for RHEL.

c) You were quieted and then banned for a short time to reconsider things, this was not a long term action.

d) Privately messaging people who are on the access list of the channel isn't the proper way to escalate things, IMHO.
