Marathi (मराठी Marāṭhī) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the Marathi people of what is considered western India. It is the official language of the state of Maharashtra. There are 90 million fluent speakers worldwide. Marathi is the 4th most spoken language in India and the 15th most spoken language in the world. Along with Bengali, Marathi is the oldest of the regional literatures in Indo-Aryan languages, dating from about 1000 AD.
Marathi community is an active localization community. It has been actively contributing to localization of Free and Open Source Software since several years. Thereby, it would be great if community arrives at a common place and makes a consensus over translations of frequently used entries in localization/FUEL.
FUEL Marathi Mobile : Evaluation Meet
FUEL has one terminology module for mobile devices. This list of frequently used entries is called fuel-mobile list. It is great to inform you that Likewise what we did for fuel-desktop entries evaluation meet, C-DAC hosted and organized a meet on 4-5 Dec, 2012 to discuss on fuel-mobile entries in Marathi language. The fuel-mobile entries consist of all frequently used entries that is available in mobiles and that is needed to localized in standardized and consistent manners.

Mr Chandrakant had sent some proposed translations of FUEL Mobile Marathi by some Marathi users. The participants of the meet discussed on the complete fuel-mobile list and decided which Marathi entries can be the best one for mobile entries. After the meet, the list is released for public use.
We are happy to release the finalized FUEL Mobile entries for Marathi Language. As it was planned, the finalization meet took place on 04th and 05th Dec. 2012 at C-DAC Pune. There were 15 members present from RED HAT, C-DAC, SICSR, PLUG, INDLINUX, along with open member representation. It was successful event where the participants brain stormed for finalizing the entries. We are thankful to all those present and look forward for contributions in the future initiatives too.

FUEL Marathi Desktop : Evaluation Meet
A workshop on "Standardizing Frequently Used Terminologies in Marathi Computing" was organized on 31st July - 1st August 2009. This meet was hosted by C-DAC, Pune. In this meet, a glossary of 578 terms was evaluated. The final evaluated list is now available for download.
Priorly, a similar kind of workshop was organized on February 13-14, 2009 at SICSR under the flagship of Gnunify09 event. Due to some reasons, participants couldn't devote enough time for the evaluation of 578 terms.
