#561 Funding Request for Sarup Banskota
Closed: Fixed None Opened 9 years ago by sarupbanskota.

  • What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X, travel $Y.)

Hotel - wherever everyone else is staying.

Travel - At this time, I'm not sure where I'll be during FUDCon time. Farthest, I could be in Singapore, but most likely in Bangalore / Kolkata / New Delhi. I'd like to request a '''max of 200 USD'''; if my expenses are higher, I'll cover the remaining.

  • If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful? (Yes/No?)

No, since I'm not sure where I'll be at.

  • What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as possible, since this is the most important factor in granting requests.)

I have proposed 2 sessions; one on Git internals, the other on mobile first frontend.

If my mobile first workshop doesn't make it, I'd like to run an impromptu "bring your broken frontend" for any Fedora application that could use UI help.

Since it's a Uni environment, I could use the opportunity to look out for & help any students on projects that I'm involved with.

Generally, it would be a good opportunity to catch up with other APAC folks.

  • If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also let us know if you have specific time restrictions.

I'll try to update this space within 2 weeks when I have a better idea about my departure location.

Hello Sarup,

We are pleased to inform you that, your request has been accepted for a maximum of $200 + stay.[1] Stay is provided on the twin sharing basis for the duration of the conference, ie. check-in on 25th June and check-out on 29th June. Expenses for any other days shall be levied from the occupant(you). In case, you need a room for yourself, you'd need to bear half of the room fare.

Please go ahead and book your tickets. We will reimburse the same after the conference. Please ensure to retain your boarding passes, as we will need those for reimbursement.

Looking forward to see you at FUDCon. :)

Hi pjp & everyone else,

Thanks for updating this ticket! Copying down something I sent over email to few organizers yesterday:

I’ll arrive in Pune on 25th, only thing is I’m not sure from where. (I graduate in about a month, which means I can’t stay in the hostel. My home has internet woes which means I can’t be at home. I have a job in Singapore, but I can’t be working from there since I don’t have my Visa yet. Renting a place for a short time is a little tricky, so I’ve just decided to go with the flow and let myself move around as the situation calls for it). Similarly, I’m not sure where I head to after Pune, so I’ll have to book tickets such that it minimizes travel induced stress and expenses :-)
Siddhesh was right, I’ll book travel late, but I’ll cover anything that’s beyond 200$. (I’ll most likely not do round trip from a particular city, so it’s going to be beyond 200$).

I noticed that Air Asia was running pretty low fares yesterday, so I went ahead and booked BLR -> PNQ at my risk for about 45$. I'll book the return ticket (probably not domestic) when I have a better idea of things, and update this thread.

Thanks!

I booked my return tickets as well, and the total comes to under USD 105.

Since I was originally allocated USD 200, please use the remaining USD 95 to fund someone's travel, or to bump up someone's partial subsidy.

Hello Sarup,

Just to remind you, please attach your tickets here for later reimbursement purposes. Confirmed itinerary(timings) will help us in planning cab pick-ups from Mumbai to Pune, if required.

Thank you. :)

Hello Sarup,

Thank you.

Hi pjp, sorry you had to remind me twice! I seem to have overlooked the first email.

I'm attaching both tickets (BLR -> PNQ) and (PNQ -> DEL) now. Total '''INR 6305'''.

Hello,

We have emailed you the accommodation details on your fedora email ID.

Please acknowledge and confirm the details over the email itself

See you at FUDCon :)

-Rupali

Please post your trip report so that we can expedite your reimbursement.

Thanks folks - it was a great FUDCon.

Just left Pune yesterday, here's the trip report: http://sarupbanskota.github.io/fedora/2015/07/15/fudcon-report.html.

When I get a chance (read good internet), I'll try to post pictures too :-)

If it can be accounted for, I've also included the cab fare from BLR city to airport since it turned out to be close to 15$ - for return cab I went on a personal trip to my bank, so I pay for that myself.

To summarize:

BLR city to airport: '''INR 918'''

(BLR -> PNQ) + (PNQ -> DEL): '''INR 6305'''

Total: '''INR 7223'''

How is the reimbursement being processed?

Thanks sarup. You'll be paid via Paypal. Can you please mention the address?

Yup, my PayPal is sbanskota08 at gmail dot com.

Assigning to Ruth for payout. Paypal address in comment 16 and Total amount in comment 14: '''USD 114''' as per today's rate.

Assigning to Izhar who has agreed to share the payout workload with Ruth.
