What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X, travel $Y.)

I need to get partially covered my flight, which is about 850$, while I will pay by myself for the accomodation (4 nights) and the other transport costs.

If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful? (Yes/No?)

Yes.

If Yes, specify the minimum amount you need covered to facilitate your attendance.

It would appreciated for me getting at least 450$ for the flight, I'll pay all the rest, hotel included (will stay near BUAA).

What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as possible, since this is the most important factor in granting requests.)

If still possible I'd like to give a talk about our websites: "Fedora Websites: actual workflow and how fedora.next will change fedoraproject.org". This can also be done as lightning talk or working session.

If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also let us know if you have specific time restrictions.

I don't have the flight numbers yet, but I will arrive at Beijing friday 22th in the very early morning and will depart monday 26th. I'll book the flight by myself, no worries.

Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend FUDCon? If so, approximately how long does that processing take?

Yes I need a visa, I will request it tomorrow and already asked for an invitation letter filling out the web-form, to get it more smoothly. I should have enough time to get it before departure, it's about 4 or 5 days here.

Hi robyduck,

First, you should understand that your request is quite late for subsidy decision, and we have a tight budget for travel subsidy. In fact many accepted speakers were not granted full subsidy in previous decision meetings. However, your request seems rather reasonable to us. Specially your proposed talk about Fedora websites looks interesting and attractive. We currently do not have slots for standard sessions, so it can be a lightning talk, and there is a chance to be promoted as standard session in case of schedule change. We also would like you as a FAmSCo member to come to the event and help since tuanta cannot. Therefore we decide to approve your request. As for the specific amount, we can provide you 450 USD for travel subsidy after careful arrangement of overall budget. The extra fee and hotel fee have to be paid by yourself.

If you accept the subsidy, please act quickly to apply visa and buy flight ticket and book your hotel. You can seek help from us by direct emails or fudcon-planning list.

Hi Alick,

yes I know my request is really out of deadline and I decided only after last FAmSCo meeting to attend. I'm fine and quite happy with the granted subsidy and will pay for all the rest by myself, this means also I'm booking right now flights and hotel :)

I know also Tuan cannot come to Beijing, so I'd be happy to help where I can if you wish. I'm going to prepare also some slides and material for a (lightning)talk about websites, in case of schedule changes this way you will have a substituting talk available.

To get the visa I need a few days and I filled out the online form for the invitation letter. Hopefully you can send it to me in time, otherwise I'll try without, but...will see.

Yes tuanta, Jiri and [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/JaroslavReznik Jaroslav Reznik] are coming to deliver a keynote together.
Alick have told me on Robert's coming before he file the ticket. And we think it is okay for a new talk from Website team, so we still want to deal with this if possible.

It is sad that I can not attend FUDCon Beijing. Hope we have more chances to meet face to face in the near future.

According to subsidy request I'm attaching only the cost of my flight from Milan to Beijing, which was about 770$. Hotel and other expenses I will cover by myself.

Since we have some local sponsors sponsored FUDCon in the last minute, and some sponsored attendees did not come, we have some budget left after the conference. So we adjusted your sponsored amount.
