#338 Requesting travel/room subsidies for the HU team

  • What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X, travel $Y. Please note that for FUDCon Paris, hotel costs per person (in a shared room) are EUR122, or approximately $150 USD.)

  • If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful? (Yes/No?)

Yes, we can buy the airplain tickets.

  • If Yes, specify the minimum amount you need covered to facilitate your attendance.
    Only the rooms from arrival till departure (friday till monday)

  • What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as possible, since this is the most important factor in granting requests.)

We would like to push the cart forward in Fedora Insight under leadership of asrob, and therefore (also) take our artwork designers (kesigomu, and his daugter) too and introduce them to the community. Hopefully we can also make additions, ideas to the upcoming F18 artwork, swag designs and sleeves. We also would like to accomplish and create new flyers that easily reproducible. Furthermore, we would like to discuss the possibilities for next Fudcon EMEA with the guys from Brno, and talk about events at schools.

We would like to know if you already booked the room, and we would like to confirm that kentang is here to learn or contribute.

We haven't got booked any rooms, please do it for us if that is possible. Kentang is young girl with great ideas/sketches around Fedora kids and other designs. As she is quite new in team, she is willing to learn too, but she would like to contribute into designs also. If it's possible, we would like to add her to the design team, if there is still an empty place, and Mo finds her as qualified enough. Would be great to have some design sessions too in Fudcon, so our designers can be the part of brainstorm, or updating flyers properly - with the care of Fedora legal.

@Zoltan, there is always empty places on every Fedora groups (only the seats are limited).

As requested on the fudcon-emea email alias, you need to slip the rooms reservation by +1 night (from the 13th to the 15th) which is still 3 nights. This with regards with your last change plane schedule/prices.

It should not be a problem but we are going to confirm that tonight.

Zoltan, we saw tonight at our (postponed) meeting, and that's fine with us.
Same night number, just try to not get lost on Saturday to have some times on the first location :D

Thanks, I pay attention to that. So, with this confirmation I'll book the flight for us. The only problem that has been left, is the fudcon page doesn't contains any information about local transportation from the airports. No subway, train, suggested taxi, or anything. How can we reach easily the Hotel, and back to CDG? What do you suggest? There are group subway tickets? How much is an single ticket? Is there special discount tickets?

Have you booked your hotel?
IT would be best if you can do it by yourself as it will be easier for the check-in.
If it's better for you, we can ask Robyn to book the 3 rooms for you ASAP.

Let me remind you that we don't have the block of room any more, free rooms are not guarantee.
(There should still be free rooms available, but not for weeks)

Shaiton, two weeks ago we have asked to please book our rooms by Robyn if possible, because we won't be able to pay out so much. That I think makes easier to receive the support in the form of rooms, and no need to bother/worry about the reimbursement. We already purchased the Easyjet tickets, and booked for the dates that we have mentioned earlier. We can only arrive on saturday (13th), and leave on tuesday(16th), but without free rooms, we can't attend. So, please - we need those rooms.

If you book the rooms, you don't have to pay for them. We pay them onsite, we are merely asking that you make the reservation.

If you can't make the reservation, I can make one for you, but it is far easier if you make your own. This is how we generally have done most fudcons in europe and US in the past; then we are only responsible for paying onsite, not making sure that we have made sure that we can accommodate all of your special room requests.

Let me know what to do, but again, you can make your own reservation without having to pay.

I haven't received any feedback from the hotel yet after 4 days, and I begun to worry. Please help me to get confirmed all three rooms, and the dates (okt 13-16). Thank you.

Just called the hotel.
It should be reserved they just have to send you the confirmation email, which should be soon next week.

Gonna call them again at the end of next week to be sure.

I have received the confirmation by you Shaiton, but the Reservation n° 1210100585 booked at 15 Sep 2012 at 17:33:00 - is completely wrong. (...also the booking were sent in 4th of sept) I have sent to you the details again, and as I don't speak FR please help us to be fixed, and receive again an confirmation. Or should I re-send again the booking and cancel this? I afraid a bit again from huge delays...

Today I have sent cancellation after the wrong booking to the hotel, and received confirmation - and sent a new booking with precise details.

Called again, you should soon receive the reservation number with the right booking date.
The last night is 98€ instead of 81. Subsidies updated accordingly.
