#32 Funding request for Juan Rodriguez
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by nushio.

Tell us the following:

  • What do you need covered? Air + Hotel. ~350USD for Air ticket from McAllen, Texas to Phoenix, Arizona. I'll pay for the transportation from Phoenix to Tempe (And from Mexico to McAllen and viceversa). I'm willing to share a room for the Hotel. I'd like to be as cheap as possible to sponsor :)
  • If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful? Yes
  • What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon?
  • If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also let us know if you have specific time restrictions.
  • Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend FUDCon? Nope. American Citizen.
  • Include any additional, relevant information.

There's a lot of reasons I'd like to go

  • I'm working on a Web Events platform, called Timpus[1], and getting in touch with other ambassadors and marketers would help make this tool as useful as I possibly can make it.
  • Regarding Timpus, some sort of a Hackfest would be welcome. I expect to have an early demo of Timpus by the end of September btw.
  • I'm also interested in packaging tutorials/conferences, as I don't think I'm good enough a packager, though I manage 3-4 packages.
  • To meet fellow Fedora Developers, as I (As well as DanielBruno and Gomix) administer the ProyectoFedora.org infrastructure, and there's a lot of things I'd like to discuss with them.
  • Learn about organizing events, I'd like to do a FAD in Mexico.

Thanks for your consideration. I'll update this with actual flight info.

Moving comments from #36...

We agreed to cover $300 for travel costs, plus hotel for Nushio. Alejandro Acosta is going to travel with him across the border. (See ticket #37).

Closing this ticket since request is handled. If there are any changes, please feel free to reopen the ticket with details!

This ticket is reopened to show that travel fare still needs to be purchased.

What do we need to provide? A receipt of the plane ticket?

Please email me (privately) your date of birth so that I can purchase the airfare.

I'm confused... The ticket says that we're looking at a flight from McAllen, Texas to Phoenix, Arizona, but your last email said you needed a ticket from Monterrey, Mexico to Chihuahua, Mexico.

Which one is correct?

Just so you know, the flight from Monterrey to Chihuahua ($600 USD) is almost twice as expensive as the flight from McAllen to Phoenix ($310 USD).

If the request has suddenly changed, and the new request changes the budget impact, should the planning group reconsider the request? It's only a few hundred dollars in this case, but if everyone starts changing their requests and the overall budget keeps going up, it might be unfair to other people who want subsidies. This is really a call for the planning group to make.

I didn't reply before because I wanted to double-check with Alex.

Paul, Jared, nothing's changed since the ticket was approved. The plan proposed at the meeting was that I'd fly from Monterrey to Chihuahua, meet Alex at the airport, and drive our way into Tempe.

The cost of the plane ticket, through Viva Aerobus is about 750 pesos for the round trip (About 60 usd). Alex estimates about 200USD in gas money for the round trip.

This ticket handles #37 as well, which is where the plan was laid out. I didn't update this ticket's description, I'm sorry it caused any confusion.

For the record. I've purchased the roundtrip Plane Ticket from Monterrey to Chihuahua. The total cost was 1421.64 Mexican Pesos (Or about 114.40USD at Today's rate).

Who should I forward the receipt to?

Thanks.

Please forward the receipt to Max Spevack -- he'll be the one to reimburse you for it.
