The ipa-client-install man page says that the hostname is derived from uname(2) if not passed in.
This may have been true at one point (it is what ipa-join does) but it isn't true now. The hostname is set to socket.getfqdn() if not passed in via --hostname.
mtg: we should also look at ipa-server-install and ipa-replica-install man page
This ticket is out of scope of 4.4.0 release. Moving to 4.4.1. Note that 4.4.1 needs to be triaged, therefore not everything will be implemented.
