#2956 Define missing DNS zone attribute for default TTL value
Closed: Fixed None Opened 11 years ago by pspacek.

As discussed in bind-dyndb-ldap ticket https://fedorahosted.org/bind-dyndb-ldap/ticket/70 , it is necessary to add optional attribute to idnsZone object class (for default TTL value).

Value idnsSOAminimum ("SOA minimum") is not usable for this purpose - see description in ticket linked above.

Proposal

  • name: idnsTTLdefault
  • data type: 32 bit unsigned integer

How is this going to be managed in UI/CLI?

It is plain unsigned integer value, signle (optional) value per-zone.

I recommend get/set access usual for other similar variables in CLI and WebUI.

Changing 3.2 priority

Moving my tickets back to free-to-take pool.

I've taken ownership of the bind-dyndb-ldap ticket linked to this and am carrying out a TTL refactor in general anyway ...

This work will be completed when at the same time of that other work

Re-triaging for upstream QE & DNS Locations. It will be necessary for reliable usage of DNS Locations anyway.

Main work should be done in bind-dyndb-ldap.

master:

  • eefdcc6 DNS: Support default TTL setting for master DNS zones
  • f2974b8 DNS: Warn about restart when default TTL setting DNS is changed
