#1852 RFE: Make certmonger use optional on client
Closed: Fixed None Opened 12 years ago by myllynen.

Some platforms like Ubuntu do not (yet) have certmonger available. It should be possible to install IPA client without certmonger (.e.g., ipa-client-install --no-certmonger). This would still allow enrolling the client and use IPA for user management, SSO, etc.

Since Ubuntu should have certmonger in 12.04 I think we could make having certmonger a hard requirement for client platforms. It is probably more efficient to package certmonger for new platforms and enjoy the features it brings along than to patch FreeIPA to cope with the lack of certmonger and losing certificate related functionalities.

I'm therefore proposing we'll close this ticket. Thanks.

Closing the ticket as proposed.
