#1850 RFE: Make ntp handling platform specific
Closed: Fixed None Opened 12 years ago by myllynen.

Currently ipa-client-install expects the underlying OS to use ntpd from ntp.org and have /etc/sysconfig/ntpd. However, on some platforms like Ubuntu OpenNTPD from openntpd.org is used and the directory doesn't not exist.

It should be possible to make ntp handling platform specific in platform code.

According to the discussion with Timo Aaltonen (Ubuntu) and Marko Myllynen, this ticket can be closed as appropriate ntpd implementation is now available in Ubuntu under 'ntp' package name.

Timo/Marko can reopen the ticket if there are indeed changes needed later.
