#1373 ipa-client-install tries to start non-existing nscd
Closed: Fixed None Opened 12 years ago by rcritten.

When running ipa-client-install on Fedora 15 where nscd is not installed one
sees this warning:

Failed to configure automatic startup of the NSCD daemon

Since running nscd isn't a hard requirement for all clients and since the
message really doesn't tell that much (Was this a harmless or a fatal failure?
Will the client work ok in spite of the failure? Is some functionality now
missing? etc) it might be better to print the warning only if nscd is installed
but its automatic startup configuration fails.

It could be also mentioned that no nscd.conf was written.
