#8 Update packaging Guideline on bundled libraries
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by toshio.

Tasks: (taken by toshio to implement)

  • Add potential exception factor: "bundled code has been forked and customized in a way such that it is only useful for the application using it"
  • Add Add reason for recoll, modified to fit the existing exception factors:

[09:56:32] <spot> abadger1999: on the recoll case, i believe my grounds were A) (unac) "bundled code has been forked and customized in a way such that it is only useful for the application using it" and "upstream is defunct/dead" and "authors of code fork are unable or unwilling to restart upstream" and B) (binc) copylibs

  • add tagging of bundled libraries to rpm Provides (and justification -- rpm Provides are queryable. also in the spec file is where the packager will look for it.) Syntax like: Provides: bundled(zlib-1.1.4)

This draft was approved.

FESCo ratification of the draft was requested.

Merged into Packaging Guidelines. Feel free to announce
