The gridengine package has traditionally used fedora-usermgt method for trying to keep the sgeadmin user and group consistent.
gridengine traditionally uses a common NFS directory to store common files among the machine in the cluster. The Fedora packages are configured in such a way that NFS is not necessary, although the manual copying of some files between /usr/share/gridengine is needed and sites may choose to share this via NFS. I believe it would be of use to try to be able to keep the user and group in sync to help keep this simple.
This soft-static UID/GID request was not approved (+1:4, 0:1, -1:4).
Please note that the FPC was rather divided on this request. If you feel it is adding significant complication or is functionally impossible to use the existing dynamic UID/GID allocation scheme, please reopen this bug and we will reconsider.
It is also recommended that admins who wish to use gridengine in a shared storage configuration preallocate the needed users and groups before installing gridengine, to ensure consistency (e.g. during kickstart).
