#155 src rpm binary inclusion exception request for 'factor'
Closed: Fixed None Opened 12 years ago by codeblock.

I am trying to package up Factor (http://factorcode.org/) for Fedora.

To build, it bootstraps on itself, and needs what Factor calls a "boot image" as described here: http://concatenative.org/wiki/view/Factor/Building%20Factor

The Fedora packaging guidelines list an exception for "compilers or cross-compiler environments" which the Factor compiler falls into.

The exception I am referring to is located at the bottom of this section: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Guidelines#No_inclusion_of_pre-built_binaries_or_libraries

I have the package ready for review, pending this approval.

I asked Toshio about this on IRC and he said go ahead and submit the review request so FPC can take a look.

I have done so: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=804755

A temporary exception has been granted for bootstrapping Factor. Please note, this exception is limited to only the initial build of the Factor package. You may bootstrap this build with the binary "boot image", but after this is complete, you must immediately increment Release, drop the bootstrap "boot image", and build completely from source.
