#952 become co-maintainer on gradle
Closed None Opened 11 years ago by gil.

hi,
gradle alredy exist in fedora (provides only open-api module) but now is required to build Hibernate 4 (and some other projects groovy, springframework,...) which is a direct requirement to add support for JPA2 in jboss-as.
gradle 1.0 is available here https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=809950 . already tested, with building some project
for more info can you see this
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/java-devel/2012-September/004521.html
the packagers haven't time to spend follow this new gradle release...
i opened this other bug related to this problem
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=855336
I also asked to become co-maintainer but I had no answer. until now
thanks
regards

It seems that this package is somewhere between steps 3-4 of http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Policy_for_nonresponsive_package_maintainers#Outline .

There is a fast track procedure to handle urgent cases - what would be the impact of delaying this request to follow the policy?

There was a separate non-responsive maintainer procedure initiated for lkundrak regarding packages cglib, and jfreechart, but he has responded quickly when prompted on fedora-devel; so I'm reluctant to override the policy without a good reason.

hi at All,
i sent an email in devel list
and also sent private email to the gradle maintainer, lkundrak, in date:
2012-08-17
2012-09-04
2012-09-24
without any reply, until now
thanks
regards

I won't attend today's meeting, please count my vote as 0 - I haven't seen a reason to bypass the ordinary process.

FESCo agreed on letting the normal nonresponsive package maintainers policy take place here. From all accounts, that should be completed by next week already. We'll revisit next week if no sufficient response from the maintainer materializes.

hi at All,
i sent this email
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel/2012-October/171973.html
for a formal request required by the procedure in case of absence of the original maintainer to take over the package. as described in step #5.
I sent, also, an new private email to the gradle maintainer itself, lkundrak
in date: 2012-09-26. I haven't received any reply.
thanks
regards

I propose discussing this on today's meeting. It's now 5 months since the initial submission of the updated gradle package by Gil (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=809950). This is a very important dependency, that allows us to build Hibernate 4 (and many other packages, since it's a build tool). Unfortunately the current package maintainer is still unresponsive :(

I appreciate your help!

I propose discussing this on today's meeting.

It's on the agenda already. If you wish to attend, the meeting is in #fedora-meeting at 17:00UTC (1:00pm EDT)

gil is now the gradle maintainer. An email will be sent to -devel requesting volunteers to maintain the remainder of lkundrak's packages.

FESCo agreed on comment from limb.

I hope limb will sent the email with list of packages.
