I'm Perl SIG member, [https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/users/packages/ppisar? I maintain] many Perl and some C packages. I take care about critical-path packages like Perl, mingetty, or pcre. I'm developing tools for mass rebuild process ([http://ppisar.fedorapeople.org/Fedora-Rebuild/ Fedora-Rebuild]). I'm author of [http://xpisar.wz.cz/libisds/ libisds] and [http://xpisar.wz.cz/shigofumi/ Shigofumi] tools (client for Czech Data Boxes Information System, a message delivery system endorsed by Czech government), I have patches in Privoxy, wget, GnuTLS, Linux and many others.
= Rationale =
Annual Perl rebuild affects 1873 (year 2011) packages. Despite a lot of packages rebuild successfully, there are cases that require intervention. Forwarding patches to another proven packager in Perl SIG abuses them and consumes their scarce resources. Thus I feel becoming proven packager would help in this situation.
Sent to list for feedback.
It would really speed up process of rebuild. +1 from me.
We have 4 +1s, but one -1.
Per policy, this goes to FESCo, queueing for next meeting.
