= Proposal topic =

Adjust FESCo Election Policy to match practices of combined elections.

= Overview =

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FESCo_election_policy
includes a few points which may not hold true since we started running combined elections for all Fedora groups simultaneously.

In particular, please consider changing these points:

Item 1:

FESCo elections will be held twice a year, on the third Tuesday after a Fedora release.

Suggested replacement text:

FESCo elections will be held twice a year, as part of the Fedora Project combined election process.

Item 2:

Elections will run for a period between one and two weeks, preferably to include two weekends.

Suggest removing this point entirely, as the duration will be managed by the combined election process.

Item 3:

If not enough candidates have signed up by the deadline, the election will be held back by one week for more candidates to appear. If there are still not enough candidates, the candidates who are present will be voted upon (or merely confirmed if there are less candidates than open seats.)

Suggested replacement:

If not enough candidates have signed up by the deadline, the election may be delayed waiting for more candidates to appear, in coordination with the schedule for combined Fedora elections. If there are still not enough candidates, the candidates who are present will be voted upon (or merely confirmed if there are less candidates than open seats.)

Corresponding changes to the rest of the text (not just the Digest section) are necessary too.

This adjustment was approved at the 2010-03-30 meeting.

Can you write up the changes?
