During each new JDK coming to fedora, I'm posting patches for packages which FTBFS after mass rebuild. TBH I don't know where everywhere I just posted patch or where I become comaintainer
The jdk9 is getting close I will be again helping people with FTBS. If the fix is straightforward, its quite good to do it immediately.
Another benefit I'm doing for fedora is keep legacy JDKs in play, and to provide the tech-preview of future JDK.

One dummy question on top - but wiki did not answered - Provenpackager can automatically sponsor new packagers?

No, the two are seperate:
provenpackager - can commit changes to (almost) any package.
sponsor - can add new packagers to the packager group.
