#1532 F24 System Wide Change: NewRpmDBFormat
Closed None Opened 8 years ago by jkurik.

For the 2016-01-22 meeting as the Change Proposal was announced on devel-announce list on 2016-01-11.

Change format of the RPM Database from Berkeley DB to RPM's own format.

There's no rationale against that change (and considering BerkeleyDB recent history, it's welcome).
My question is more about if it's the right time to do change.

Looks like the upgrade path is not ready and RPM is critical component:
"Update to (not yet available) rpm and libsolv version
Convert to new rpmdb format (details tbd)"

I request more information from RPM maintainer about upgrade path before making a decision. As I won't be present during today's meeting, not to block my peers from taking a decision, my vote is for now +0

We discussed this in Friday's FESCo meeting and several folks had unanswered questions, so we're going for one more week of discussion on the devel list.

AGREED: Push a vote to next week's meeting, and gather more information on the mailing list. (kalev, 18:04:15)

I had ping ffesti few hours ago on IRC. I think he will join the meeting though not sure.

This change was approved in today's FESCo meeting.
