#1520 I need to bootstrap the fpc package for includion on ARM (again)
Closed None Opened 8 years ago by joost.

The fpc package (Free Pascal Compiler) compiles itself, so needs bootstrapping. Version 2.6.4 is included in Fedora for ARM, but it is an 'unofficial' patched version. This version is unable to compile fpc 3.0.0 on ARM.

The solution is to bootstrap it again from a pre-compiled binary witch is included into the src-rpm. This needs approval, I think. (But I'm not sure as it has been done before)

The binary has been cross-compiled on an x86_64 machine. The srpm I want to use for the first step can be found here: https://joost.fedorapeople.org/fpc-3.0.0-1.fc24.src.rpm

I don't think there's anything in particular for FESCo to do here: what you are requesting is permitted by the packaging guidelines and instructions are available at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Guidelines#Bootstrapping

If you need a short-term prebuilt binary to start the bootstrapping process, open an FPC ticket to get permission.

Sorry, I got the wrong abbreviation.
