It was suggested at https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel/2015-July/212589.html that I apply for provenpackager status, to enable me to do rebuilds of large numbers of packages that depend on Boost, which I now maintain.
It should be noted that although I've been using RHL, RHEL and Fedora for many years, I've only been a Fedora packager for a relatively short time and am still quite inexperienced. I do understand the responsibilities though (and risk of misusing the privs), and have been a maintainer of a core piece of infrastructure for years (GCC's C++ runtime libraries).
Sent to sponsors for feedback.
I am +1 to the request. :)
+1
I'm still pondering my vote, I understand the problem but I don't have enough material for judging. Have you considered requesting commit rights on packages depending on Boost?
I also advise you to do more packages reviews.
I too have same opinion. The reason to apply for provenpackager is good but jwakely maintain only one package and co-maintainer of two other packages. Also, there is no package review done though I see 4 simple comments on 4 package reviews.
Then you have sponsored in packager just 4 months ago using co-maintainership policy of Packager sponsorship.
Actually, I see there is no criteria defined for provenpackager policy to vote here for this much less work in packager group.
Please feel free to vote -1, I would probably do the same in your shoes! I'm definitely not familiar with all the fine details of the packaging policies yet, which is obviously an important requirement for a provenpackager.
David Tardon is helping to do the rebuilds and I can request commit privs on individual packages as needed, so I don't think rejecting me as provenpackager will cause any problems.
ok, thats a week and +3.
I have added you to the group.
Use your powers for good!
