It has been suggested that I contact FESCo about this:
http://bugz.fedoraproject.org/echoping
Suggestion: Remove echoping from the distribution, and take another look at what other packages are affected by packager "ixs".
ixs (Andreas Thinemann) is the organizer of the distributions devroom at FOSDEM in a couple of weeks. I will talk to him there.
Yes, Andreas Thienemann is highly active on social networks. Just not the Fedora Project anymore.
This is the list of packages where he is the POC: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/packager/ixs/
There are 28 NEW bugzilla tickets, several as old as 2013: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&classification=Fedora&email1=andreas%40bawue.net&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=substring&list_id=3180688&order=Importance&query_format=advanced
Because of co-maintainers it may be difficult to draw conclusions on that list alone.
However, a libsndfile crash reported on 2014-01-02 has not been responded to at all (i.e. not a co-maintainer either): https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1047767
Replying to [comment:1 mattdm]:
Did you get to it and what was the outcome?
No, I totally failed in all of the busyness. I'll email him.
We'll discuss this at the 2015-02-25 meeting.
Looks like ixs has just pushed an update to all the Fedora branches addressing the reported issues in this ticket.
Is that all FESCo wants to add to the issues mentioned at the beginning of the ticket?
Has there been any response from Andreas beyond this sudden activity after more than six years?
What about the other open bugs for other packages?
Btw, the updated echoping does not follow modern packaging guidelines yet. I've added a comment to 460557.
I'll add that I exchanged some irc messages with ixs after the meeting. He said that he has been very busy of late, but would be "always happy for co-maintainers to step up for packages."
Perhaps we could solicit such co-maintainers on the devel list if there are other packages in need of attention?
Yes -- I got a response to my message. I'll remind him of the other open bugs; it's not just about echoping.
