#1324 Feature page "outcome"
Closed None Opened 9 years ago by langdon.

= phenomenon =
Periodically, I am looking for something in Fedora, and I come across a Feature Page as my only, useful, search result. The problem is that the Feature page normally doesn't give an indication of the "outcome" of the Feature.
= background analysis =
For example, if you go to https://duckduckgo.com/?q=manage+certificates+in+fedora you can see the Feature page https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/SharedSystemCertificates a few results down. Either my duck-foo has improved or the indexing has, but it used to be that the Feature page was the only "interesting" result. Now, you see you also get Dogtag which (might) be the "outcome". However, per my example, if you go to the Shared System Certs page, you can see that there is no way to find out "what happened next."

= implementation recommendation =
Add to the appropriate guidelines that a Feature page be updated with:
1) current status: done + what version of fedora, incomplete + target version, killed, etc
2) if done, where to find out more information about the Feature, like an implementation page or an upstream project or whatever
3) possibly, a short paragraph about how to use the Feature

Langdon an I were talking about this on the bus. I suggested maybe a set of macros which could be included at the top of the page, introducing color-coded blocks -- green for completed, yellow for partially completed, and red for failed or rejected. (Possibly in-progress features could get their own color too?)

Each macro block would have a summary of the state with fields for each of the three things in the "implementation recommendation" Landon describes.

FESCo and Change wrangler will look how to improve the visibility of Change outcome data

Is there anything left to be done here?

I think current Change page provide sufficient information to know progress as well as Change testing and documentation information. I am closing this ticket if anything is still remained to be implemented please provide details.

The current Change template is https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/EmptyTemplate
