#1098 F19 Features - Progress on Features 100% Complete
Closed None Opened 11 years ago by jreznik.

This is a list of Features at risk for Fedora 19 (as for Feature Freeze on 2013-03-12).

Features without recent updates:
Fix Network Name Resolution, 10%, 2013-01-16 (in touch with owners, probably retargetting for F20)
GNOME 3.8, 30%, 2013-01-23 (important)
MATE Desktop 1.6, 50%, 2013-01-27
ns-3 Network Simulator, 60%, 2012-12-29
PHP 5.5, 5%, 2012-12-12
QXL/Spice KMS Driver, 70%, 2012-09-15 (important for Alpha, no reply from the owner)
Scala 2.10, 0%, 2013-01-29
Usermode Migration, 20%, 2012-10-16
Virt Device Failover, 50%, 2013-01-29
Yesod Web Framework, 10%, 2013-01-29

Needs update:
GCC 4.8.x, 50%, 2013-01-08 (we are after mass rebuild, update is needed)
Kolab, 30%, 2013-02-05 (Christoph confirmed he is working on this Feature, needs update)
* Enlightenment, 40%, 2013-01-03 (Rahul is a little bit late but still wish to finish the Feature)

I'll keep asking Feature owners above to update the status, especially for important ones. For the rest I'd recommend for FESCo to remove Feature status in one week in case of no recent updates (for the next FESCo meeting).

Features with less than 80% done and updated/commented recently:
AnacondaNewUI Followup, 60%, 2013-03-11 (more details on Feature Page)
Anaconda Realm Integration, 70%, 2013-03-06 (should be testable but waiting for the functional composes with recent Anaconda)
Apache OpenOffice, 35%, 2013-03-12 (probably will be late)
Better NetworkManager IPSec Integration, 10%, 2013-03-12
Erlang/OTP R16, 40%, 2013-03-12 (Erlang R16 will be ready before 17 March. If something went wrong then it would be ready ~ 24-31 March)
Erlyvideo, 25%, 2013-03-10 (Erlyvideo will be ready before 24 March)
firewalld Lockdown, 10%, 2013-03-12 (see milestones set on Feature page)
firewalld Rich Language, 25%, 2013-03-12 (see milestones set on Feature page)
First-Class Cloud Images, 70% , 2013-03-10 (we are 100% on track for proposed schedule. Prototype implementation is functional)
FreeIPA v3 Trust Improvements, 70%, 2013-03-08
Multiqueue virtio-net, 66%, 2013-03-12
NetworkManager Bonding Support, 50%, 2013-03-12
NetworkManager Bridging Support, 50%, 2013-03-12
Adding NetworkManager Connections via CLI, 75%, 2013-03-12
OpenAttestation, 70%, 2013-02-27
Thermostat 1.0, 55%, 2013-03-12
* oVirt engine 3.2, 50%, 2013-03-12 (not testable at the moment but should be ready by 100% feature complete deadline)

Better NetworkManager IPSec Integration now targets Fedora 20.

QXL/Spice KMS Driver went into the f19/rawhide kernel yesterday. Not sure about any userspace portions.

Alon was sick, he's going to provide status update.

From 2013-03-13 FESCo meeting:

AGREED: [Feature wrangler will] send e-mail to all the feature owners on this ticket saying
that they have 1 week to get their feature testable and their page
updated. vote next week on what to drop (+:6, -:0, 0:0) (notting,
19:37:00)

MATE is almost near 1.6 release upstream.

“Fix Network Name Resolution” certainly doesn't meet the requirement to be substantially complete. I'm sorry for that. We have to retarget for F20.

Re: "Erlang/OTP R16". I've reached a point of no return so . Fortunately I have the only big issue remaining - erlang-riak_kv failure (fails to pass unit-tests). The FTBFS issue with ejabberd is just a "Big TeX Package Split" fallout - I'm working on it.

Re: Erlyvideo - I put it on hold until next Monday (18-03-2013). That'a a leaf node application so I'll continue only after I finish with Erlang R16.

Features re-targetted to Fedora 20
Fix Network Name Resolution
Scala 2.10
Usermode Migration
Virt Device Failover
Yesod Web Framework
Enlightenment
Apache OpenOffice
Better NetworkManager IPSec Integration
Erlyvideo
NetworkManager Bonding Support
NetworkManager Bridging Support
Adding NetworkManager Connections via CLI
* oVirt engine 3.2

Features without recent updates and not in testable state (80%)
Kolab, 30%, 2013-02-05 (no update from Christoph)
ns-3 Network Simulator, 60%, 2012-12-29 (no reply/update at all)
* OpenAttestation, 70%, 2013-02-27 (owner status comment: We met issues during the package review)

For the rest of Features, all are now 80% up and thus should be testable (finalized, or the scope was limited).

Open Attestation now targets Fedora 20 (confirmed by feature owner).

agreed: drop ns-3 and kolab as features for F19. Suggest they target F20. (+6, 0)

The Features 100% Complete deadline is later today, I'm preparing the list of unfinished features for tomorrow's meeting (and trying to reach the feature owners before). 17 features still needs update, I'll prepare the final list for FESCo tomorrow in the morning (pre-meeting).

  • AnacondaNewUI Followup, clumens@redhat.com, 80%, 2013-03-20
  • Dracut HostOnly, harald@redhat.com, 98%, 2013-03-15 (from email auto-reply, Harald is on vacations now)
  • Ryu Network Operating System, yamahata@private email ne jp, 90%, 2013-03-18
  • Virt Storage Migration, pbonzini@redhat.com, 90%, 2013-03-12
  • Virtio RNG, amit.shah@redhat.com, 90%, 2013-03-12

  • First Class Cloud Images: We weren't able to complete the idea of using Oz in Koji, so we are activating that aspect of the contingency plan. Some of the automation is also not yet in place. However, the existing build tech has been patched so that images can be built for both EC2 and for download for use in OpenStack and etc. That's the core part of the feature and this will be as planned, from F19 Beta on - notably, the release notes section below is still accurate. We do still need to move to an anaconda-based install system, and the remaining aspects of this feature will be re-proposed for F20.

Update: Ryu feature punt to Fedora 20 as there're still missing package reviews. Virt Storage Migration was updated and it's 100% now. Virtion RNG should be available in F19, Feature page not yet updated to reflect it.

From 2013-05-15 FESCo meeting:

AGREED: give dracut-hostonly and anaconda-newui-followup until next week to update status (+:7, -:0, 0:0) (notting, 18:35:29)

Dracut Hostonly feature is now completed, Anaconda Follow Up was updated to 90% - the Test Day for this feature was yesterday.

great, we can close this out now. :)
