We've been bitten in the past by cron daemon not running, and we just stopped it tonight on cvs1 for the mass branch, which reminded me it should probably be monitored.
Done in nagios, this ticket is just to port that to zabbix
I'll see what I can do with getting this ported to Zabbix.
The cron daemon is now being monitored in Zabbix on every host.
