#89 Package assigned to wrong owner
Closed: Fixed None Opened 16 years ago by anderson.

The package "crash" seems to be assigned to me in Bugzilla. It shouldn't be; I don't even know what it is! Please assign it to the correct owner, and then re-assign https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=250479 to that new owner.

Cheers,
David (username: anderson)

Sorry for this. There is another anderson that should be the owner here, but they don't have their account setup. :(

I have sent them email and hopefully we can get it fixed up soon.

Thanks for the report.

ok. I heard back from them, they are going to try and get their account situation setup, but they are about to leave on vacation for 2 weeks. ;(

Would you be willing to wait until they get back?
Alternately I could take over the package until they get back if you like...

I can wait. I've only had one bug sent my way so far.

anderson, the default address is fedora-packaging@dw-perspective.org.uk. Is that incorrect? What should it be?

That's my e-mail address, yes - but the point is this isn't my package. It's been assigned to me but shouldn't be.

Who should it go to? Are you also anderson@rh.com ? If not then we've just confused something:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=225660

I don't know who it should go to. I'm David Anderson, a Fedora contributor, but I'm not @redhat. I am "anderson" in the Fedora account system. I maintain 4 (or is it 5) packages in Fedora. I filed this bug because someone assigned "crash" to me in Bugzilla, but this package is nothing to do with me. The point of this bug is to get it assigned to someone else.

Sorry bout that, kevin (to whom this ticket is assigned) actually knows whats going on :) I'll leave it to him.

Yeah, I just sent another email to Dave Anderson, (anderson @ redhat.com), who '''should''' be the owner of crash. Hopefully we will get his account setup today and get this package reassigned.

Sorry for the hassles.

ok, The package should be all reassigned now and in the right hands.
I am going to go ahead and close this now.

Sorry for the delays here... ;(

Are you sure this is fixed?

I just received CVS mail recording a change in the "crash" package made by the other David Anderson... the package I'm not meant to be associated with.

Note my e-mail address on the To: line - that shouldn't be there.

Sorry for the delay... have you seen any more of these?
I could:

  • Do a dummy checkin on the package and make sure you no longer get emails from it.

  • Just close this and see if it happens again later when the new crash maintainer updates something.

Thoughts?

If the latest aspect of the problem was just with a cvs commit (not bugzilla) then it could be that the packagedb and owners.list were out of sync. The cvs commit messages were being generated from owners.list information until 9/13 because one script took longer to update than the rest. That was fixed in this ticket::
https://hosted.fedoraproject.org/projects/packagedb/ticket/25

So at this point, cvs commit messages should go to the correct user. If you've received anything from a commit to the crash package since 9/13 then there's still something broken that I should look at.

Sorry for the spurious email while this was being fixed.

Seems to be fixed. If there's still a problem feel free to re-open this bug. Thanks!
