#727 access request for torrent.fedoraproject.org
Closed: Fixed None Opened 15 years ago by brenton.

I would like to be able to publish Fedora spins for https://fedorahosted.org/genome to torrent.fedoraproject.org.

So spins are still pretty new to us but we've got a new proceedure that basically allows you to go step by step through the process. If this is going to be an official spin, it will get uploaded for you automatically. You'll just need to provide the kickstart file. if this is going to be something else, then you'll need to do it yourself :)

Either way, you'll need premission from the board in order to use the "Fedora" name. Probably won't be a problem for you guys but its there so people don't create spins with bad stuff in them. Here's the spins sig website:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Spins

Stop by #fedora-devel or #fedora-admin on irc.freenode.net if you have any questions. I'll leave this open until I have a clearer sense of what all you guys are doing and if you need access or if this is just going to be an official spin.

The goal is definitely to make an official spin though currently we do not meet all the requirements. Namely, all the packages are not yet in Fedora. Jeroen Van Meeuwen is help making that happen though.

Basically what we're looking to do is get the genome quickstart iso off of ftp.redhat.com. If I understand correctly, we would like to be able to use this process for now: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/SOP/TorrentRelease

Sounds good, there's only one hangup. If it doesn't have only Fedora bits in it I don't think you can call it Fedora. I've cc'd Paul from the board to verify this because its still a little fuzzy in my head the legal side of things :-/

Looks from [comment:2 brenton's comment above] that Jeroen is already working on that. Once the bits are in Fedora, it can be called Fedora. The Spins SIG has drafted a submission process here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Spins/SpinSubmissionProcess

I'm cc'ing Jeroen on this because we need to see the Spins process docs pushed through to approval/completion.

This isn't needed anymore. Sorry, I should have closed this a while ago.
