#5101 CommOps mailing list not receiving new mail
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by jflory7.

= Bug Description =
It was first noted at 03:55 UTC on 2016-02-10 in #fedora-admin that the commops@lists.fedoraproject.org list was not receiving new emails sent from my address. New emails do not appear in the Hyperkitty interface nor are there fedmsg notifications for new emails.

= Bug Analysis =
I originally sent an email from jflory7 (a) gmail.com to the list with the subject, ''CommOps Weekly Meeting Recap 2016-02-09''. This was sent at 18:17 UTC on 2016-02-09.

Later, I sent another email from jflory7 (a) gmail.com to the list with the subject, ''Looking at our Join page: "How to CommOps 101"''. This was sent at 03:52 UTC on 2016-02-10.

Just now, I sent another test email from jflory7 (a) fedoraproject.org to the list with the subject, ''Infrastructure Test - Do not reply''. This was sent at 05:01 UTC on 2016-02-10.

None of the above messages seem to appear in Hyperkitty or under "Held messages" in the interface. They also didn't fire any fedmsg hooks in #fedora-commops like they usually do.

= Fix Recommendation =
It's unknown what is causing the issue or if the emails were ever received by the servers. I am CCing danofsatx because he may have also sent an email to the list earlier than me and not have noticed it didn't send.

The email at least makes it to mailman in mailman01.phx2:

2月 10 05:01:24 mailman01.phx2.fedoraproject.org postfix/lmtp[14653]: 190C523A8456B: to=commops@lists.fedoraproject.org, relay=127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:8024, delay=0.18, delays=0.13/0/0/0.04, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 Ok)

Can confirm that locally, emails seem to be rolling in now and I just got a large wave of emails that were sent earlier today.

However, it seems like there's still issues with Hyperkitty. For example, just now, I sent an email to the social-media list and CC'd the marketing list. You can find the email on the Marketing list, but not on the social-media list.

I kicked mailman into obedience, and it's now catching up to all of the backlogged email.

Pipermail is mailman2, so that was not hit by whatever caused MM3 to not pick up new emails.
All emails that have been sent in should be getting processed, sent out, and added to hyperkitty now.

There is a known bug also with cross posting when one of the cross posts is moderated.

A fix for that issue should be coming along soon...
