#5004 please create fas group for russian localization team

= problem =

I want to have a page on fedorapeople, to publish there materials on fedora. but according to the instructions on the page http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/fedorapeople.org condition for obtaining fedorapeople page is to participate in a fas group or maintaining software packages.

= analysis =

I sent a request to the group l10n and tried to contact the administrator of the group, but for a long time did not get a confirmation of participation and do not get a response.

= enhancement recommendation =

because I am not a skilled programmer, but involved in translating of fedora documentation and fedora wiki, I believe it would be better to organize a group for the localization team where I could, rightly, to participate. and thereby obtain fedorapeople page.

In addition, this or a similar group could be useful the rest of the localizers

So, I can add you to the fedorabugs group to grant you fedorapeople space, that is easy to do.

However, it sounds like there may be other people you know that might need fedorapeople space too, but are not yet in any groups? How many people are there?

Options then are:

1) Just add you for now and let other folks come forward and we can add them as needed.

2) create a group for you to add people to.

Which would you prefer? I guess I would say it would depend on how many other people are in this same situation...

thank you very much for the quick response!

I hope that soon there will be many people who would need a group of "Russian-speaking" localizers.

not so much a "Russian" by nationality, it would be wrong to multiply the number of groups, but the Russian-speaking, for whom the Russian language and means of communication as the basis for translation into its own language and as a means to express their own opinions, to add the Russian text.

to participate in this group, it would be enough to make decisions and participate in fedora project at least to engage in translation of documents. both in Russian and from Russian into their native language. It may properly be called the group "a group of Russian-speaking localization" or something like that.

at the moment I sent a message to those wishing to participate in the group of Russian-language localization, through a mailing list and jabber conference. and I contacted with the curator of team Russian localization.

In any case, I prefer option 2 to create a group for future participants. by example when I faced with difficulties, I want to help our next participants.

thank you!

Alright. How about: i10n-ru ? or do you have some better name in mind?

about the group for the team of Russian localization. through mailing lists where I proposed to the Russian-speaking localizers to participate in the group, I was contacted ypoyarko and she said that there is a general group for translators - cvsl10n. and that it may well be used. unfortunately I have not heard of this group before.

now my problem is solved. the need to create a new group disappeared.

my candidacy was confirmed in this group and I hope that this will be the solution for the other new localization team members. for my part, I intend to post information about this group on wiki pages, for example, on the page "how to join the team of localization" and on the page "how to get the fedorapeople page".

the only question I had was about the group name, because I filed an application to participate in groups such as "l10n-commits", "l10n-editor", and even a group "l10n-admin", but got no response. I mean, I was not looking for something to do with "cvs", version control system, as I understand. It may be necessary to use some more obvious name?

In any case, thank you very much for your participation and sorry to trouble you.

Great. Glad things worked out...

If the group wants to look at changing to a new name, let them know they can open a new ticket for that. ;)
