#4993 Please create fedora group "qpid"
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by irina.

We would like to use this group to maintain qpid packages in Fedora/EPEL and corps build systems. Please make user "irina" the admin for this group.

There are two possibilities to have a group maintain some packages in pkgdb, the distinction is made there: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageDB_admin_requests#Pseudo-users_and_Groups_for_SIGs

For FAS groups the documentation is at: http://pkgdb2.readthedocs.org/en/latest/groups.html

If you use the FAS group set-up, all the bugzilla email will be sent to the mailing list of the group, we therefore advise for a separate mailing list that would be private (avoid security sensible bugs from being broadcast) and access-restricted.

What name would you like the group to have?

Do you need a new mailing list?

I think we would like a FAS group like this:
group::qpid-sig qpid-sig@lists.fedoraproject.org

Yes, we need a new mailing list.

Please add kgiusti on fedoraproject.org as co-maintainter.

Will the new mailing list be created as part of this ticket or do I need to file another ticket for it?
Will the bugzilla account for this mailing list be created as part of this ticket or do I need to create a bugzilla request after the list has been created?

How long will it take to create new qpid group?
Out goal is to be able to show this project:
https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/irina/qpid/
as
https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/g/qpidfedora/qpid/ (or something similar)

instead. Is there anything else that is needed to be able to achieve this?

Regards, Irina.

Can you clarify here?

Do you just need the group for copr?

Or do you need it for Fedora packages/builds/permissions as well?

We need it for both, for corp and for Fedora packages/builds/permissions as well.

Is there anything else you need from me? This ticket is still open... Is there a time frame for its completion?

So I have created the qpid-sig mailing list and the FAS group qpid-sig

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/lists/qpid-sig.lists.fedoraproject.org/

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts/group/view/qpid-sig

This mailing list will be the one to receive the emails for all the packages maintained by the FAS group. What remains to do:

  • Configure the mailing list to be private and access-restricted
  • Create a bugzilla account corresponding to this mailing list (might want to do this before you allow all emails from bugzilla on the list)
  • Edit the group in FAS to set its mailing-list address to qpid-sig@lists.fedoraproject.org (which is where the emails from bugzilla will be sent).

After that you should be able to add people to the group and give commit to the group using in pkgdb the username: group::qpid-sig.

So you should be all set on our side. Let us know if something doesn't work or if you need help with anything.

Thanks for choosing Fedora and have a nice day :)
