#4957 Please create a NodeJS Packager group
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by jsmith.

= problem =
The number of NodeJS packages in Fedora is growing, and the size of the SIG is growing as well, and the NodeJS SIG would like a packager group in Fedora infra (with ACLs on the nodejs-* packages) to more easily manage the packages as a group, similar to the way some other language groups work together to maintain packages.

= analysis =

This was discussed on the NodeJS mailing list in the following thread, with lots of +1s and no dissent: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/nodejs/2015-November/000208.html

= enhancement recommendation =

Could you please create the packaging group? I'm assuming that this ties back to a FAS group, but that's just an assumption. If so, please make the FAS group as well. Please make me (jsmith) the group admin, and I'll take care of adding other group admins to avoid a single point of failure.

So I have created the nodejs-sig mailing list and the FAS group nodejs-sig

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/nodejs-sig

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts/group/view/nodejs-sig

This mailing list will be the one to receive the emails for all the packages maintained by the FAS group.
What remains to do:

  • Configure the mailing list to be private and access-restricted
  • Create a bugzilla account corresponding to this mailing list (might want to do this before you allow all emails from bugzilla on the list)
  • Edit the group in FAS to set its mailing-list address to nodejs-sig@lists.fedoraproject.org (which is where the emails from bugzilla will be sent).

After that you should be able to add people to the group and give commit to the group using in pkgdb the username: group::nodejs-sig.

So you should be all set on our side. Let us know if something doesn't work or if you need help with anything.

Thanks for choosing Fedora and have a nice day :)
