#4778 No longer receiving koji email to virt-maint@lists.fedoraproject.org
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by crobinso.

We have an old-style group account in pkgdb called 'virtmaint' that has watchbugzilla and watchcommits on a bunch of virt packages:

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/packager/virtmaint/

The associated email is the mailing list virt-maint@lists.fedoraproject.org. Recently we haven't been receiving koji build mails to this address though. It seems like the last build mail we got was on March 24th:

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/virt-maint/2015-March/thread.html
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/virt-maint/2015-March/028946.html

Since then it's only been bugzilla mail, and broken dep reports, but there have definitely been many builds since then. I've verified there's nothing stuck in the list moderation queue.

Yeah, this likely happened when we disabled koji's native email in favor of FMN.

We can fix it by making a user for it in FMN, but should we just move to the new group and not worry about it ?

Let us know if you would prefer to fix this now, or just move to the group...

Ah, didn't realize koji mail was disabled. If the virtmaint-sig group will 'fix' this, that's fine with me. So we can close this. Thanks!

So reopening this since it's still not working as expected, but there still might not be anything for you guys to do :) I think I just need some info

virtmaint-sig is setup, and group::virtmaint-sig has replaced the old virtmaint group. However the virt-maint mailing list is still only getting bug mail and broken dep reports, but not commit or build notifications like it historically did, and nothing from notifications@fedoraproject.org

However now I get notifications@fedoraproject.org mail for all the packages virtmaint-sig is watching, so it's having some effect. But the paradigm is a bit different than before.

Previously all virtmaint notifications came through the virt-maint list, which made it easy to filter between 'what I see due to virtmaint' and 'what I see due to user=crobinso'. However now everything comes via the notifications system to user=crobinso, so I don't know how to filter out the virtmaint watch stuff. Any suggestions here?

And I seem to be getting notifications for things like faf reports which I've attempted to explicitly disable in my notification preferences... so does the virtmaint-sig account have it's own notification preferences? (This may be a notifications system bug... since in my notifications panel it doesnt show any faf notices, but I am definitely receiving email for them).

Adding ralph here for comment....

Yeah, we have to set something up explicitly in the new notifications system to make this happen. I can do it today.

We should change your preferences to scale back the kinds of things that get forwarded to user=crobinso, and then set up another account to forward things explicitly to the virtmaint list (like mentioned above).

I just edited your account[1] and changed the rule that matches "A particular user's packages (any acl)" to "A particular user's packages (commit acl)", so you shouldn't get stuff forwarded directly to you anymore that the virtmaint group would have caught with its watchcommit flag.

And I seem to be getting notifications for things like faf reports which I've attempted to explicitly disable in my notification preferences... so does the virtmaint-sig account have it's own notification preferences? It should be possible to explicitly disable these (like you tried). And, no, the virtmaint-sig account shouldn't be sending anything anywhere on its own (yet). I'll be setting it up to forward to the virtmaint list later today.

Looking at your account[1], it looks like you did it correctly. You are still getting ABRT/FAF messages? If so, then there's a bug somewhere in there for me to track down.

There's now a virtmaint user in the notifications system, and it is a member of the virtmaint-sig fas group, and it is getting its notifications forwarded to virt-maint@lists.fedoraproject.org which solves the core bit of this. There were some fmn development issues filed for the other peripheral bits.
