#2668 repos.fedorapeople EPEL repositories don't work for Scientific Linux
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by lkundrak.

= phenomenon =

Unfortunately, SL6 broke compatibility with RHEL slightly by changing their version number into 6.0 from 6. Thus, the $releasever expands differently and "epel-6" paths no longer apply.

= recommendation =

I'm wondering if we could redirect requests to epel-6.[0-9]+ to epel-6 somehow.

Ugh. I wish they hadn't done that, but oh well...

RepositoryRedirects added in MirrorManager to redirect all requests for epel-6.[0-9] to epel-6. Will take effect after the top of the hour.

Unfortunately, while they had their rolling release available for a long time, this change was done to gold distribution, too late in their release cycle for me to complain even though I've been running their rolling distro ever since it was available :(

I guess there's nothing that could possibly fix the messed up version number on their side now.

Reopening this; sorry for noticing it only now, but the ticket was concerned with repos.fedorapeople.org repositories, which are not mirrormanager-managed.

Isn't it broken for RHEL as well? $releasever on those systems is 6Server, 6ComputeNode, 5Client, and so forth.

It might be for things like ComputeNode and Client, but there is a 6Server, 5Client, and 5Server symlinks on the mirrors. I'm not sure why this is open for 3 years without a comment to that effect.

Is something still broken?

Please reopen if this is still any kind of problem...
